Review: Beginner Bondage Kit

Just in time for Valentine's Day, I figured I'd give a review to the Beginner Bondage Kit sent to me by MyPleasure! Plus, I kind of want to remind myself and my readers that kinky sex can be fun and consensual. :) It's been an intense few weeks.

Anyway, this is a super cute kit for people who are curious about trying some light kink- it includes wrist and ankle cuffs, some tethers, a blindfold, and an honestly rather flimsy "flogger". It's not the most luxurious set in the world, but it's mostly vegan (the blindfold is leather), washable, and not intimidating for someone curious about some bondage and teasing. And it's pretty comprehensive- you can use this for lots of different play possibilities!

The cuffs have some fake fur on the inside and are super comfortable, and have heart shaped rings and trigger clips to attach them to each other. It all comes in a cute satin bag. Ankle cuffs are 12", and the wrist ones go up to 10", so they're pretty flexible for sizing. They attach with velcro and are surprisingly strong in holding up.

In addition, there are tethers, 36" long each, with two straps and clips on one side and just one strap/clip on the other. You can use these to attach your lover's wrists to your headboard, or to bind wrists and ankles if you use the tethers under your mattress- personally, I would probably use them by tying a knot in the strap and letting the two strap side dangle so I can use any door as a bondage point. They aren't load bearing, but for a gentle bondage experience these would be great.

Then of course there's the blindfold, which is a pretty basic leather piece with an elastic strap. The elastic is thick enough to be pretty comfortable, and the leather is ok- it doesn't keep all the light in the room out, but it's pretty decent. Like I said, this is a good kit for lovers looking to explore and see what they enjoy rather than a set you'll use for a life of kinky fun. As a starting place, it's a nice addition to this set!

Finally, there's a rubber "flogger" that's really more of a tickler. You're not going to actually get much oomph out of this toy, which is probably just as well- rubber can sting! As a sensation toy, though, it's quite nice to trace over the skin of your lover. You can also use the handle gently (GENTLY) as a cane on your lover's chest or thighs, but not too hard- you don't want to shatter the plastic. Just tap on the bare skin for a different feeling, and then tickle with the rubber ends.

All in all, I think the Beginner Bondage Kit is a good purchase for anyone curious to explore some light bondage and sensation play. It's pretty unthreatening, convenient to clean (beware machine washing, it can clog the velcro) and a lovely gift. It's affordable, too, which I always appreciate (I hate it when kinky stuff is jacked up in price making it inaccessible).

If you're looking for a good present to give to your lover for Valentine's Day, for Femme High Holy Day, or just because (hell, get it for yourself so you're prepared!) and you're new to BDSM, definitely check out this kit. It'd go really nicely with the Kama Sutra Weekender or maybe the Afterglow massage candle.

Thank you MyPleasure for giving me this kit to play with in exchange for an honest and fair review!
